Matthew Lux is an Executive Vice President at Beta, a commercial real estate agency focused on enhancing value thru advisory, design, and analytics. Beta collaborates with brands and places to face challenges and find solutions by implementing marketing and technology to accelerate and enhance the leasing and sales transaction process.
Mr. Lux is a 32-year veteran of the retail real estate industry. Specializing primarily in corporate tenant representation, his unparalleled knowledge of markets throughout the United States make him a valued consultant and advisor to a host of esteemed national and international brands.
From 1990-1995, Mr. Lux served as the Director of Real Estate – Western Division for Famous Footwear where he oversaw all western USA, western Canada, US Territories and national Outlet mall relationships. Matthew was later promoted to Vice President where he was responsible for 1,000+ store chain for all Lease Administration and Real Estate activities. In 1995, Mr. Lux was hired as an initial officer of the company, Big Dogs Sportswear, as Vice President of Real Estate. Matthew was responsible for all Real Estate and Lease Administration as well as transacting from USA, Canada, US Territories to Europe. Mr. Lux was heavily involved in the companies IPO process. Following his tenure with Big Dogs Sportwear, Mr. Lux joined SkinMarket as Executive Vice President of Real Estate, Construction, and Design in 1999 to help start a new chain of young woman’s lifestyle stores. Matthew was responsible for all aspects of company growth and was heavily involved in the company’s fundraising activities. The company went from 0 to 45 stores in 3 years while operating in high-end malls plus developed a kiosk concept. In 2002, Matthew joined Destination Maternity as Vice President of Real Estate where he served until 2010 with two additional years serving as a consultant until 2012. Mr. Lux was responsible for Real Estate nationwide for 4 different DBA’s that included Destination Maternity, Motherhood Maternity, Mimi Maternity, and A Peas in the Pod. At its apex, the company had roughly 1,200 stores in all retail formats.
Matthew’s dedicated clientele is a testament to his unfailing commitment to excellence and client service: Caleres (Famous Footwear, Naturalizer, Sam Edelman), Foot Locker, Comcast/Xfinity, Columbia Sportswear (prAna, Mountain Hardwear, Sorel), VF Corp (Vans, The North Face, Timberland), Genesis (a division of the Hyundai Motor Company), Aston Martin, Zumiez, Hot Topic, Torrid, David’s Bridal, and Drive Shack all rely on Matt for representation both in California and in markets across the United States.
Matthew’s real estate acumen spans numerous disciplines which include regional malls, power centers, outlet centers, high-street retail, corporate facilities, and specialty requirements. In addition, he represents key landlords in California, providing council on the repositioning and re-branding of world-class assets.
